Baby injured in fall from vehicle

An infant has been taken to hospital after reportedly falling from a vehicle in Hastings.

Police were called to Maitland Crescent in the suburb of Mayfair at about 6.30pm on Thursday following reports of a person falling from a vehicle.

Police said an infant was found with moderate injuries and was subsequently taken to hospital.

Hato Hone St John said it was notified of a motor vehicle incident and responded with one ambulance and one rapid response vehicle.

Four patients were assessed at the scene, with one transported by ambulance to Hawke's Bay Hospital in a moderate to serious condition.

Police said they are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
