Greenstone adds eight Volvo haulers to Philippines fleet

Greenstone Resources Corporation has added eight Volvo A40 articulated haulers to its fleet in the Philippines. The machines were supplied by Civic Merchandising, Volvo Construction Equipment's distributor in the country.

The new haulers are intended to strengthen Greenstone's materials-handling operation. In assessing the vehicles, the company cited fuel use, reliability and ownership economics. The order expands Greenstone's hauling capacity at a time when mining and heavy equipment operators are under pressure to contain operating costs and keep sites running consistently.

The machines are already in service and being used for day-to-day material movement. Greenstone said they have supported efficient transfer of materials while meeting the reliability demands of heavy-duty work.

Maintenance focus

Alongside the fleet expansion, Greenstone has put in place an on-site maintenance structure aimed at keeping the new units available for work. It has assigned four mechanics to repairs and six reserve technicians to preventive maintenance.

Greenstone also said regular reporting from Civic Merchandising is helping with maintenance scheduling and broader fleet management. The approach indicates the company is seeking to reduce downtime through a combination of in-house servicing and dealer support, rather than relying solely on reactive repairs.

Operator feedback has also shaped the rollout. Greenstone said workers have responded positively to the machines, particularly their comfort during long shifts, which it said helps reduce fatigue and maintain output over the working day.

Cost pressures

For equipment buyers in sectors such as mining, fuel use remains a central consideration because it directly affects hauling costs. Greenstone said reduced fuel consumption was one of the operational benefits it had identified from the new fleet, and linked that outcome to lower emissions as part of its wider sustainability aims.

Volvo Construction Equipment said customers are increasingly seeking machinery that can balance production requirements with tighter control of operating expenditure. In that context, articulated haulers remain a key category for mines, quarries and large earthmoving sites, where terrain and payload demands can place heavy strain on equipment.

The deal also underlines how equipment investment decisions are extending beyond purchase price alone. For operators such as Greenstone, fuel performance, service support, technician coverage and machine availability are playing a bigger role in procurement decisions as companies try to extract more working hours and output from each asset.
