Software service provider Teletrac Navman has teamed up with Site Safe to identify safety leaders in the construction industry, sponsoring the 2018 Safety Leadership Award
“Safety experts tell us that the New Zealand construction sector accounts for a significant proportion of the nation’s workplace-related accidents,” says Ian Daniel, Vice President Teletrac Navman, Asia Pacific.
“This includes 13.2% of all workplace fatalities that have taken place since January 2017.
“And trades workers have had the highest number of ACC claims by occupation since 2007.
“The Teletrac Navman Safety Leadership Award aims to identify industry leaders who do their best to ensure that their workers go home every day as healthy as they were when they came to work.”
In sponsoring the award Teletrac Navman hopes to encourage leaders in safety to share their ideas with the wider industry to make construction safer for everyone.
The award will be presented to the site or company that has implemented an initiative that involves organisational leaders in driving health and safety performance through visible and active involvement in health and safety activities.
This could include developing safety culture, making safety positive or demonstrating leadership at the highest level.
Entries for the award close Saturday 1 September and the award will be presented at Site Safe’s Evening of Celebration on Wednesday 7 November.
