Veteran Media Solutions Publisher, Mike Bishara, lends his voice to Mediawatch’s media coverage roundup

In case you missed it, producers of RNZ’s Mediawatch programme called upon Mike to join them on air and discuss infrastructure viewpoints presented by major media organisations over recent weeks.

It came about as Wellington’s wastewater challenges attracted significant news interest. Developing stories subsequently linked to New Zealand’s national infrastructure planning. Mediawatch had immediately found one of its major weekly podcast themes.

So which news sources were presenting which viewpoints to ignite the discussion?

That’s where we – Media Solutions – stood out as a publisher of timely industry content.

Mediawatch’s research team located Mike’s story, Hoping against hope for non partisan politics, initially featured on AsiaPacific Infrastructure and in our 2026 Yearbooks published last month.

And the rest is history. Mike was interviewed for the segment alongside several other spokespeople. Within the recording he expands on viewpoints and key facts included in his original article.

About Mediawatch

Mediawatch airs on RNZ National on Sundays and reviews opinions making media headlines during the week. It is produced and hosted by Colin Peacock.

What this coverage means for trade media in Aotearoa

Mike’s inclusion on Mediawatch – off the back of his own feature commentary – confirms that we are winning the content battle. Our coverage attracts discussion because it fulfils the topic, timeliness, relevancy and qualifiable/quantifiable storytelling requirements which make for happy readers.

Crucially for audiences and sponsors, Mike continues to enjoy editing, writing and publishing. Each day he cuts through a daily avalanche of information from voluminous sources. He is nearing 80 but pumps out stories like he’s 35.
